Age Friendly York Citizen Group Meeting
October 1, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 3:40 pmFree
Age Friendly York is the opportunity for older residents to help shape where they live by working with local groups, businesses and the City of York Council to identify and make changes to their physical and social environments. The Age Friendly York Citizen Group looks at the feedback received from residents and informs an action plan to enable an Age Friendly York. The meetings came to a close during the COVID-19 restrictions and as part of the celebration of International Older Person’s Day we are re-launching it, initially as 40 minute Zoom conferences on the first Thursday of the month.
If you would like to join us on 1st October at 3pm then please email AgeFriendlyYork@york.gov.uk to be sent the Zoom link.
Chatty Bench As part of the celebration of International Older People’s Day we are delighted to launch Chatty Bench. It’s a simple idea and one of a range of social contact options that are being offered by community groups, the City of York Council and other partners. It is more important than ever that we look after our wellbeing and maintain opportunities to talk. Healthwatch York and our volunteer Health Champions will be starting us off with chats at benches in Haxby, Heworth and Tang Hall with more to come. We will test the concept out in any remaining days that are dry and warm enough with a view to roll this out in the Spring. Remember to follow government guidance in all that you do and stay safe.
