APPG on No Recourse to Public Funds: COVID-19 and NRPF

This event, hosted by the APPG on No Recourse to Public Funds will look at the issues that people with NRPF are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This event will be chaired by Kate Osamor MP, chair of the APPG on NRPF, and speakers include:
Nadia Chalabi: Nadia Chalabi, Hackney Migrant Centre’s Free School advocate, who will bring us up to speed on the recent temporary changes to free school meal entitlement for some children with “no recourse to public funds” and what needs to happen to make this benefit all children in need.
Women from WINGS. WINGs is a group of women and their children who meet every week at Praxis Community Projects to build community support and speak up about the issues that affect migrant women.
Andy Jolly is a researcher at the Institute for Community Research and Development at the University of Wolverhampton. His research focuses on irregular migration, food poverty and social care. He is a member of the British Association of Social Workers Asylum Immigration and Trafficking Sub Group, and before becoming a researcher, managed a voluntary sector project supporting destitute migrant families in the West Midlands. He is currently part of a research team exploring how local authorities are supporting people with NRPF during the pandemic and will be discussing preliminary findings from the research.
NRPF Network. We will also be joined by a speaker from the NRPF Network. The NRPF Network is a network of local authorities and partner organisations focusing on the statutory response to migrants with care needs who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF).
