Applying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD) at local level

The Greater Manchester Disabled People’s Panel would like to invite you to the following event:

With:

Matthew Blow – (Equality and Human Rights Commission UNCRPD Lead, Human Rights Monitoring Team),

Professor Anna Lawson – (School of Law, University of Leeds, Disability Rights and Law, Human Rights, UNCRPD),

Dr. Miro Griffiths – Research Fellow, School of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Leeds

The Workshop will cover:

  • What is the UNCRPD? What is the EHRC role and how it engages with disabled people about UNCRPD.
  • Implementation of UNCRPD: how it can be used at a local/city region level and DPO level.
  • ‘The personal is political’ – using the UNCRPD on the individual level and with your peers to remove disabling barriers.
