Art Liberation Week: Devising Audio Walks
September 8, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This event is only for people of colour/ BAME people/ people of the global majority. This event is suitable for 16+.
About the Workshop
Mikhail will take you on a journey to better understand what audio walks are and how we can use them to express our experiences in relation to physical spaces. You’ll be creating mood boards and/or collages to explore your history and what that means for you today. Mikhail will support you in mapping your audio walk route (which can be anywhere in the world!)
Mikhail asks that you bring quotes, text, images, pieces of art, a scent or personal items/objects that resonate with your generational history that will help you unlock certain memories and experiences. Whatever you think will help you explore the relationship between your experiences and physical spaces!
Art Liberation Week
Art Liberation Week aims to decolonise art and creative practice. In practice this means that whatever your experience, you can create art. We strongly encourage you to try as many of the workshops as you can, push yourself out of your comfort zone and our wonderful facilitators will guide and care for you during this process.
The week offers an opportunity for people of colour in York to connect and build a supportive community; a space where we can freely express ourselves and experience joy.
