Art Liberation Week: Healing Trauma with Comedy

September 10, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This event is only for people of colour/ BAME people/ people of the global majority. This event is suitable for 16+.

About Zee (they/them)

Zee is a poet and comedian based in West Yorkshire who uses their own identity and trauma to make space for diverse performers.

About the Workshop

What is comedy? How can we use comedy to heal from trauma? Zee will be exploring these questions and encouraging us to access joy in our individual and collective experiences. You’ll be guided through exercises to understand how to upturn the negative to a positive and make a comedic narrative!

Art Liberation Week

Art Liberation Week aims to decolonise art and creative practice. In practice this means that whatever your experience, you can create art. We strongly encourage you to try as many of the workshops as you can, push yourself out of your comfort zone and our wonderful facilitators will guide and care for you during this process.

The week offers an opportunity for people of colour in York to connect and build a supportive community; a space where we can freely express ourselves and experience joy.
