About Kai (they/them)
feminist, they, Taiwanese immigrant living in the UK. Cat butler. Fascinated by different forms of visual storytelling and methodologies. Passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion, and working as the Equality and Diversity Coordinator at the University of York.
About the Workshop
During Art Liberation Week, Kai will set some tasks to complete. These will include taking photos and journaling exercises. Kai’s workshop is taking place after the official week and will act as a reflection session using photography and journaling as tools.
No expert skills are needed and any device camera will do! You’ll be reflecting on your experience of being “BAME” living in York, sharing your images and stories with each other and exploring our thoughts, ideas and feelings individually and collectively.
Art Liberation Week
Art Liberation Week aims to decolonise art and creative practice. In practice this means that whatever your experience, you can create art. We strongly encourage you to try as many of the workshops as you can, push yourself out of your comfort zone and our wonderful facilitators will guide and care for you during this process.
The week offers an opportunity for people of colour in York to connect and build a supportive community; a space where we can freely express ourselves and experience joy.
For the Week’s events we are operating on a sliding scale. Please use the Green Bottle Sliding Scale Analogy to determine which price option works for you.
