The structure of sessions will be a mixture of activities including talking, writing, crafts and creative tasks. I will also be providing some information alongside them. Every woman will receive a printed workbook which has space to write notes. This space is for us to reflect on who we are as individuals, how we feel we fit into our multiple contexts e.g. York, work, education, family, friends etc. and discussing the complexities of our cultural identity. It is a journey of self-exploration that will bring us closer together as BAME women. This group is trans-inclusive.

  1. We have a new series of workshops for anyone who is BAME!!! The course will be 4 weeks long and will be 1.5 hours each session. They will be held online. Date and time TBC

This course will delve into intergenerational trauma and how this affects our day to day lives today. We will look into the historical events that are applicable for our ancestors’ migratory journeys giving us insight into the kinds of experiences they would have had.

Trauma is stored physically in our bodies and is then passed down through generations and in order to heal as BAME communities it is important to look back and learn about what we didn’t learn at school and how this relates to our ancestors personal experience.

For those who have completed the women’s group this is an expansion of week 1.

If you are interested in joining this group please send an email to antiracistcollective@gmail.com. No prior knowledge of historic stuff is needed for this course. We will do everything step by step together.
