Break the Cycle: How a Racist Education Produces a Racist Culture

July 18, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

About this Event

Racism is the complex system of privilege and legacy, access and opportunity, advantage and disadvantage, power and poverty. It’s explicit and implicit, conscious and unconscious. It is the air that we breathe. It impacts us all from birth.

But education is the engine of social and cultural change. So, the question is simply, how will we use this moment to harness its power to break rather than reinforce the cycle of institutional inequality?

Building on last year’s launch of the Break The Cycle movement and manifesto, join Professor Robert Beckford, educator, author and award-winning broadcaster; Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award; Lord Michael Hastings, and many others as we explore how to change the culture of education so that no one is discriminated against or disadvantaged because of the colour of their skin.

The webinar will include keynote presentations, panel discussion, and Q&A sessions. Registered attendees will receive webinar joining details by email before the event.

Break the Cycle is a grassroots movement, hosted by Oasis and supported by the Times Educational Supplement.
