Speaker: Various – please see below

The York Law School, York for Europe and the Young European Movement York are delighted to present the public seminar ‘Citizens of Europe’.

The seminar will consist of a keynote from Professor Michael Dougan (University of Liverpool), and breakout sessions with Natalie Bennett (Green Party), Richard Corbett (MEP), Dr. Charlotte O’Brien (University of York) and Stuart Hand (Field Director of Open Britain).

Throughout the morning, the sessions will explore the idea, scope and any benefits of retaining EU Citizenship post-Brexit – for both the UK and other EU citizens – and ask what can we do to prevent the UK’s immigration policy becoming self defeating. It will provide an opportunity to look at the myths surrounding free movement and ground the debate on immigration control in a firm legal framework, exploring the options that exist for UK immigration controls to be exercised both now and in the future.

The seminar will be structured with opening and closing plenary sessions, and participants will be able to take part in up to two scheduled discussions with the invited speakers.

Arrival from 9:30 for 10:00 am start.
