Clean Break presents ‘Women’s Voices: Stories of Survival’

About this event

Trailblazing women’s theatre company Clean Break have commissioned partnerships between members and artists to explore what collaboration looks like in a digital context. Their performance will feature 3 monologues co-created during the pandemic. Join Rachel Conlon Director of the YSJ Prison Partnership Project as she chairs a Q & A with the cast and Anna Herrmann, Joint Artistic Director of Clean Break, after the performances.

Clean Break is a women’s theatre company established by two women prisoners at HMP Askham Grange in Yorkshire. Over the past 40 years the company has proven itself to be a trailblazer in both theatre and the criminal justice system; creating bold work, innovating best practices, and creating lasting change. Clean Break is a regular collaborator with the Prison Partnership Project at York St John University.

  • You are required to wear a face covering at this performance. Face coverings are also expected in communal areas inside University buildings.
  • Please take a lateral flow Covid test the day before accessing our campus, even if you are fully vaccinated. Tests are free and available online, at our York campus test site and from local pharmacies.
  • Use hand sanitising stations on campus and regularly wash your hands.

If you need a suitable seat reserved for you (and companions), please let us know, preferably at least one week before the event. Sign language interpreters and real-time captioning may be requested in advance. Please contact us as soon as possible (ideally at least 3 weeks before the date of the event) if you require either BSL interpretation or captioning. We will try our best but cannot guarantee provision.
