CRAFTY WOMEN IN THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY

Join us for a drink and evening lecture that will illuminate the world of female  craftsmanship in the 18th Century. Dr Chloe Wigston Smith, University of York, will be discussing Hannah Robertson, an interesting character who claimed to be the illegitimate granddaughter of Charles II. Robinson made, taught and wrote a book on crafts providing an escape from the strictures placed on Georgian women and offering creative and financial independence.
