Doctored Portraits
August 19, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - August 21, 2021 @ 4:00 pm
FreeDoctored Portraits is a workshop series to create a collage of altered works of art that will hang alongside the famous royal portrait as part of the Richard III: Coming Home exhibition. The work will explore representations of disabled people in art. The workshop is open to all abilities – no previous experience needed! Just the enthusiasm to challenge negative perceptions of disability.
We will have sole use of the space for socially distanced, Covid -safe sessions. Accessible toilets on site and refreshments will be provided (let us know if you have special dietary requirements when you book). A guided visit to the exhibition is included at the start of each workshop. As well as the collage, we’re producing a short film and guide on the Social Model of disability, to suggest changes people can make to help disabled people feel more At Home in York. You don’t have to be in the film, but be aware filming will be happening at the workshops as we discuss ideas to include in the film and guide.
