FREE Two day training in YORK on Human Rights and Advocacy in health and well being issues

May 24, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

FREE but booking with eventbrite is required

The British Institute for Human Rights is running a new project, ‘Human Rights and Advocacy’, that will train advocates in human rights, and produce a fact-sheet that will extend the learning to those not able to attend training sessions, and those outside too.

What is it and who is it for?

This free training is for advocates working on health and wellbeing issues. It will consist of a first session covering human rights and their relevance to advocacy. Then a second follow-up session that will go into more advanced detail about how to use human rights arguments to challenge decisions and enact change.

When is it?

First training session:       May 24 2017 (start and end times tbc)

Second training session: June 28 2017 (start and end times tbc)

It is important that you attend both training sessions to get maximum benefit, and to access the second session we ask that you have completed the first.

How does it tie in with other events?

BIHR strives to work across the four nations of the United Kingdom to ensure that we are in touch with human rights issues that are relevant to everyone, not just people in London. As such, we’ve held a range of events recently in Liverpool, Leeds, and Blackburn that you may have heard of as part of other projects.

In addition to this work, ‘Human Rights and Advocacy’ is engaging specifically with advocates in the north east. We’ll be following the sessions with a fact-sheet to support advocates on health and wellbeing issues. It is an opportunity to not only receive free training, but to influence a useful resource that will be used by advocates across the country. You can find our other advocacy toolkits and resources here: https://www.bihr.org.uk/health

 How do you get involved?

If this sounds like a great opportunity for you and your organisation, please book your free place here:

We hope that you’re able to share this event with your networks, but please remember that it is focused at advocates working on health and well-being issues. If you are unsure about whether or not the training is for you please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or queries.

Hope to see you at the first session in May,

Kind regards,

Johnny
