Growing up under COVID-19: young people speak out
February 24, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
FreeWe are pleased to be hosting this webinar in partnership with Ecorys and the University of Huddersfield.
Planned and run by young people, the webinar presents the learning and key findings to date from the Growing-Up Under COVID-19 project, which is a collaboration between 14-18-year olds from the UK, Italy, Singapore and Lebanon, and researchers from Ecorys and the University of Huddersfield.
Using participatory action research and ethnographic methods, and conducted entirely online during the pandemic, the project aims to give a voice to young people, foregrounding their lived experiences of the COVID-19 crisis, and their views on how politicians and the public have responded. Young people are working alongside adult researchers as collaborators, and experts in their own lives.
As part of the session, you will have the opportunity to:
- Hear directly from young people about their research, through video, storytelling and debate, young people will reflect on their research, and the recommendations from the first published report: To Lockdown and Back.
- Gain insights to the role and value of participatory action research during the crisis, brought to life by a conversation between young people and adult researchers.
- Engage in a questions and answers session and react to the ‘call to action’.
As there will be a Q&A session, there is an opportunity to post any questions that you have for the young people about the research when you register. We will review and select a number of these questions to be asked on the day.
The project will continue until September 2021, and this is the first of a number of planned events, and we welcome your input and feedback to shape the agenda moving into the New Year.
