HEALING THE WOUNDS OF HISTORY – HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY

January 27, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

YORK GROUP OF THE COMMUNITY OF THE CROSS OF NAILS
HEALING THE WOUNDS OF HISTORY
HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY
MONDAY, 27th JANUARY 2020
ST MARTIN CONEY STREET, YORK
12noon to 2pm
The theme for this year is ‘Stand Together’. There will be a short repeated video and displays to aid reflection, with an opportunity to write down your thoughts. Come at any time then, and you are welcome to stay for as long or as short a time as you wish.
In 2020 it will be 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, and 25 years since the genocide in Bosnia. Survivor stories from both those horrific times reveal great personal endurance and courage. They did indeed ‘stand together’ in dehumanising circumstances, looking out for each other, keeping up each other’s spirits with fortitude and hope. To-day, let us ‘stand together’ in solidarity to stop division and to remember that those who were marginalised and killed because of their culture are never forgotten.
