Human Rights and Devolution
September 6, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeAbout this event
In March 2021, the Scottish Government made a promise that, following the May election, they would introduce a new human rights law for Scotland. This law would incorporate 4 major United Nations treaties directly into Scots law, and better protect our economic, social, cultural and environmental rights.
In this webinar, join the Human Rights Consortium Scotland and others as we learn about the relationship between human rights protection and devolution in Scotland. Scotland’s unique devolution arrangement offers exciting opportunities for progressing human rights, and there will be opportunities to ask questions about this from our expert speakers.
We will be joined by the following academic experts:
- Dr Katie Boyle, Associate Professor of International Human Rights Law at the University of Stirling
- Dr Nicole Busby, Professor in Human Rights, Equality and Justice at the University of Glasgow
Their short presentation will be followed by questions.
We want this event to be accessible to all. If you have any particular accessibility requirements, please let us know as soon as you can so that we can make any arrangements required.
