Human Rights Check UK
April 6, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Civil society’s chance to tell the United Nations how the UK is doing on human rights here at home.
An event for anyone working/volunteering for:
- a charity, voluntary or sector group?
- dealing with social justice, equality, or rights issues?
- supporting people experiencing discrimination or marginalisation
The United Nations will soon be reviewing the human rights situation in the UK during the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process. Civil society organisations have a vital role to play in telling the UN what they think about the human rights situation here at home. The British Institute for Human Rights (BIHR) project, Human Rights Check UK, is supporting organisations to be heard in this international process.
It is coming to YORK on 6 APRIL to provide organisations in the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humber with an opportunity to:
Learn more about the relevance of human rights to your work;
Understand the UPR process and the important role your organisation can have in submitting evidence;
Review the UK’s progress on recommendations made at the last UPR (in 2012); and
Identify key new human rights issues in the UK which the UN should review. |
Please indicate when booking if you would like more information about assistance with participation costs.
