Information Session – IDAS Uni of York Volunteers
October 16, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
FreeAbout this Event
We need volunteers to help us provide additional support to survivors. This may be through befriending, peer support or by helping our teams with admin and office based tasks. We are also developing a ‘Court Support’ programme for survivors who would otherwise have to attend court alone.
We will provide full training and support.
We are the leading specialist domestic abuse charity in Yorkshire. We also offer expert advice and support to people who have been affected by sexual violence and abuse. Each year we receive more than 7,000 calls to our confidential helpline and provide direct support to more than 5,000 individuals and families. We also provide safe accommodation to over 100 individuals and families in our refuges each year.
We provide emergency accommodation, community-based services, a helpline available 7days a week and Live Chat between 4-6pm weekdays. We keep people safe through the criminal justice service as well as providing emotional support.
With our support, victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence tell us that they feel safer, have greater confidence, are able to make positive choices, and move forward in their lives. We support anyone affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence.
