International Women’s day, panel discussion

Unite the union & the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York are honoured to host a panel discussion with Thabitha Khumalo Hon MP for the movement of democratic change in Zimbabwe; Prosper Tiringindi, a Human Rights Defender from Zimbabwe who campaigns for economic, social and civil rights and transparency and accountability in local government; as well as other guests to be announced. The discussion will focus on women and human rights.

This is a really exciting opportunity for Unite Reps, members and anyone with an interest in global human rights.

Thabitha Khumalo Hon MP for the movement of democratic change in Zimbabwe.  Thabitha was a  trade union official in Zimbabwe and  is a founder member of the Zimbabwe Movement for Democratic Change. Thabitha is a champion  on the rights of children and women as well as all those in society who are disadvantaged.   Thabitha was instrumental in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Advisory Group on HIV and AIDS and maternal, new-born and Child Health. Thabitha has previously visited the UK, campaigning with women across the trade union movement for period dignity
