Introduction to Human Rights 8 Week Course

October 10, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

£59

In April 2017, York was declared the UK’s first Human Rights City. What does this mean? What are human rights? Does the international human rights system make the world a safer, fairer and better place? This 8 week course offers an introduction to the field of human rights, looking at some key rights and how they work (or don’t) in a global and local context. It will address the questions above and include discussions on women, children and minority group rights, the use of torture, and the protection of refugees.
