Quiet Pride!

August 14 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

free

York Pride is an incredible event that brings people together in celebration. However, not all of us are comfortable in loud, busy spaces.

So we bring you Quiet Pride. A space to feel welcome, without music and crowds.

After the success of last year, we wanted to make the event accessible to more people but did not want to make the space any busier. We have decided to run two identical 3-hour events in the same day with a morning and afternoon session. Please only register for one session. We are hoping this will allow more people to experience the joy of Quiet Pride. There will also be a celebration event in the auditorium at 5pm open to everyone.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, has nearby accessible toilets and accessible parking. BSL interpreters are booked for the duration of the day.

Join us with your ear defenders, your mobility aids, or just bring your wonderful self! We want you to feel safe to be your most comfortable self, whatever that means to you. Wherever you want to sit or stand, there will be no pressure. Bring a book if you want, whatever makes you feel at home.

We’ll have a quiet room where you can just sit and be, and an open art and craft space to work on a communal art project or individual art. All of these spaces will be for people to pop in and out of, with no need to book.

Alongside this, there are now scheduled activities – you don’t have to take part, it’s entirely up to you, and the more informal things will be happening alongside them.

Just so we have a good idea of numbers and to keep things ‘quiet’ we ask that you book on to either the morning or afternoon session for the workshops. If you change your mind later, this is no problem at all – all sessions are very relaxed, we just want to make sure nothing is oversubscribed.
