REFRESHER: Non-Violent Direct Action and Know Your Rights training
April 11 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmfree
What is Non-Violent Direct Action, and why do we use it?
What are our legal rights in protest scenarios?
How can we prepare ourselves for high pressure protest environments?
What should we take with us to demonstrations?
What happens after actions?
To answer these questions and more, we’ll host bitesize Non-Violent Direct Action and Know Your Rights refresher training in place of our regular meeting on 11th April.
The training session will ready activists for our movement’s biggest demonstration to date, starting on 21st April in central London. The ‘Big One’ will bring together 100,000 people outside the UK government to influence real shifts in policy and practice.
We’ll focus on recent changes in the law and how this impacts our participation in climate action. Attendees will take part in interactive activities to simulate protests, and will be encouraged to share experiences and ask questions throughout.
The training will be delivered by three experienced York-based activists, including Dr Abi Perrin, member of the national XR Scientists group. There will be time for discussion and questions.
