Sold The Movie Exclusive Childreach Film Screening

January 31, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

£5.50
On 31st January, 7pm, at the Ron Cooke Lecture Theatre (RCH/037), YUSU RAG and YATS, in partnership with Childreach International, are hosting a showing of SOLD – an incredibly powerful human rights film that shines a light on one of the biggest human rights issues of our time: human trafficking and modern day slavery. SOLD follows the story of a young Nepali girl named Lakshmi who is sex trafficked to India. The film is directed by an Academy Award Winner and stars Gillian Anderson – and is part of a 12 stop tour of the UK to shine a light on modern day slavery before the film goes on general release. In York, the film will be followed by a panel discussion including: Professor Gary Craig (Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Slavery and Emancipation), Dr David Hickman (Director of Slavery: A 21st Century Evil), and Esther Swaffield (International Justice Mission), alongside a member of staff from Childreach International.

There is a limited capacity for the event and, as the film is not yet on general release, we expect the event to be popular. Tickets can be booked at the following link: http://www.yusu.org/groups/raising-and-giving-4083/events/sold-anti-trafficking-film-in-york (or via www.taughtnottrafficked.com).
