South Africa recently triggered the Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), alledging that Israel was committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

This talk will cover the significance of South Africa’s case against Israel in the ICJ and, where States and legal-political institutions fail, the legal efforts being taken to try to prevent genocide and hold politicians across the globe accountable for their alleged complicity in war crimes.
