Supporting People with Disabilities and Domestic Abuse

December 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

£35

This 2 hour course will provide you with increased knowledge around how disabilities can increase
vulnerability when experiencing domestic abuse. Abusers will often take advantage of their victim’s
ability issues and exploit them for this own personal gain.
Through an interactive training programme you will begin to understand how domestic abuse may
play out in these situations and in turn you will explore how tailored support can be provided.

Upon completion of the course you will be able to:

• Understand what we mean by disability and how it can affect a victim in an abusive relationship
• Explore the barriers people with disabilities often face when accessing support
• Understand which agencies can provide support and referrals
• Recognise the support professionals can provide upon receiving a disclosure of abuse

The course costs £35 and you will have the option to pay using a Debit or Credit card after registering. You will also be given the opportunity to request an invoice at this stage if you prefer. All invoice requests must be received within 7 days of registration, otherwise your place will be cancelled.

Our training events are usually heavily oversubscribed. If there are no places left for this training session, please email us at: training@idas.org.uk and we will let you know when new dates become available.
