‘Talking about Poverty through Lived Experience’ Workshops

March 19, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

Free

As organisations with lived experience of poverty, we the APLE Collective are working to tackle poverty across the UK.

APLE invite activist groups with lived experience to two follow up framing workshops bespoke to people with direct experience of poverty. The workshops will provide an in-depth look at the framing tools and how we can use them to build public and political will to take action

  • Workshop One. Thursday 19th March 2020 @ Priory Centre, York.
  • Workshop Two. Tuesday 30th June 2020 @ Priory Centre, York.
  • Who are we: The APLE Collective stands for Addressing Poverty through Lived Experience. Our aim is to create a sustainable, grassroots network across the UK to raise awareness of poverty, reduce stigma and work together with others to eradicate it.

The workshops will be co-hosted with The Frameworks Institute. They are designed for people advocating from a place of experience and are delivered in an inclusive and participatory way. The workshops will equip participants with the tools and knowledge on how to talk about poverty in a way that encourages people to look at the change needed within systems instead of blaming the individual.

The workshops are specifically for groups looking to reach beyond the ‘already converted’ and to engage with the general public in an effective way that not only builds awareness, but also the will to take action.

The workshops have been designed and will be delivered alongside people with experience.
