Equality Republic Launch Event – 21st Century Equality

We hope that you will be able to join us for the virtual launch of The Equality Republic. The Republic is a movement of organisations and individuals who want to critically examine the impact of equalities practice and the kind of work that organisations and practitioners should be doing if we really want to stand a chance of addressing systemic injustices. This launch was due to happen in March earlier this year but was postponed due to Covid-19. During this webinar, we will be exploring the equalities industry, what interventions should be ‘ditched’, and what thinking and practices we should be promoting.

As you know, at the moment entire communities are facing the biggest inequality of all: higher death rates in the face of covid-19. In fact, if the coronavirus pandemic has shown us anything, it’s shown us what we’ve perhaps always known: the work we do can literally be a matter of life and death. The Equality Republic was founded to help people working on these issues learn, connect, and be more authoritative about the types of interventions required if we are really going to change the status quo. We face the biggest crisis the equalities movement has faced for a generation – we mustn’t go back to promoting solutions that have little impact, no matter how well-meaning they are.

The event will be hosted by Prof. Robert Beckford and you’ll get to hear from expert speakers including Dr. Doyin Atewologun (Director, Delta Alpha Psi, Leadership & Inclusion Consulting), Carol Campayne (The Diversity Practice), Dr. Richard Hillier (Evaluation Lead at Coventry University), Roger Kline (Research Fellow at Middlesex University Business School), and Joy Warmington (brap CEO).
