“The New Working Class: How to win hearts, minds and votes”
January 7, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Free“The New Working Class: How to win hearts, minds and votes” with Claire Ainsley
Claire’s talk will focus on the use of data on public attitudes to set out a new policy platform to win over what is termed the ‘new working class.’
She argues that what it means to be working class today has changed due to the nature of our modern society and economy, and she uses the Great British Class Survey to redefine working class.
Data about the concerns, interests and values of this new working class is then used to set out what political parties trying to connect with these voters should do, and what policies and issues are most important to them.
Claire Ainsley is Executive Director of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, leading JRF’s strategy to inspire action and change to solve UK poverty.
She is a trustee of Involve, the public participation charity.
