VCSE Training: Supporting Gender Diversity in the VCSE Sector

This training session will provide an introduction to gender and sexuality inclusion for charities, social enterprises and community organisations (service providers and service users).
Training content:
This session will introduce attendees to some of the main issues facing LGBTQ+ people in the workplace today, as well as wider issues that may impact the experiences of LGBTQ+ people when engaging in volunteering, working for, or receiving support from the VCSE Sector. This session will go into more depth than previous sessions on changes that can be made within HR, policy writing, recruitment, outreach and external communications to make your organisation more inclusive and equitable for gender diverse people.
In this workshop we will cover:
- Basic concepts and terminology
- Workplace discrimination
- Legal and social responsibilities
- Workplace policies
- Culture change
About the facilitator:
Jodi M Burn is a UK-based educator who draws on their personal and professional experiences as a non-binary trans person to deliver training sessions on the inclusion of diverse genders and sexualities in their work. They have previously delivered training sessions to charities such as Girls Rock London and School Ground Sounds as well as professional organisations such as The People Person and the Tour Production Group. They have an MA in Social Justice & Education and are the Trans Coordinator at York LGBT Forum.
