WADJDA

November 18, 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Wadjda is the first feature film directed by a female Saudi Arabian director, Haifaa al-Mansour. This award-winning film is being screened as part of the YORights festival, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

10-year-old Wadjda dreams of owning a bicycle, but her ambitions are frowned upon as not appropriate for a girl in Saudi Arabia. The film follows her quest to buy the beloved green bicycle of her dreams…

Screening is held in The Mount School York’s historic School Hall.  Please note that, due to security reasons, admission is by advance order ticket only. Parking is available onsite, and the theatre has wheelchair access.
