Women without children – finding a political voice
May 13, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
£6.35Jody Day of Gateway Women and Dawn Llewellyn of University of Chester, Liane Preston who is a psychotherapeutic counsellor working with the involuntarily childless and Rebecca Manson-Jones who is a Movement Builder for The Women’s Equality Party. This is a wonderful line up, with a wealth of experience around what women without children need and how a political party should represent them.
There’s more to politics than ‘hard-working families”: 20% of women aren’t mothers, and this is set to rise for the next generation. Isn’t it time politics took into account the experiences, needs and potential of this massive and hidden group of voters?
The Women’s Equality Party is hosting a Seminar in Harrogate on the political needs of childless and childfree women. We believe their needs are different and we know Jody Day who heads up Gateway Women is just the person to outline those needs. This is going to be an amazing evening which will provide insight on a personal as well as a political level. Why do women get asked if they have children? Why are women more likely to judge or be insensitive to a woman who has no children? How do childless women’s needs vary from those with children. Have you ever called someone a Cat Woman, a Spinster? Lets get this conversation out in the open and see what we can do to change the narrative. More speakers will be added.
