York Ending Stigma – ‘WHY’ Suicide Prevention Film Screening Event

October 12, 2022 @ 5:45 pm - 7:15 pm

free

We are sharing our personal experiences of suicidal thoughts to encourage more open conversations and actions to help prevent suicide. We’d like you to join us by watching our documentary film ‘WHY’ which will be followed by a facilitated panel discussion where you can ask us any questions you may have about our experiences of suicide prevention and what helps to keep us well.

Event outline:

Arrival is from 5.15pm for a prompt start at 5.45pm and after a short introduction, you will watch our film (please note that our film includes subtitles) which will be followed by a Q&A session between you, our audience, and our film participants/team.

Please arrive in time to be seated for the 5.45pm start and please note that the only refreshments that you are permitted to bring into the venue is a soft drink (i.e. no food or alcohol) and we appreciate your cooperation with this.

Please be mindful of your own wellbeing and the nature of the subject matter (i.e. suicide prevention) that will be discussed at this event when deciding whether to attend – we will have mental health first aider style support and signposting available at the event, but please be aware that we are not a crisis support or mental health service. We believe that we portray the subject of suicide prevention from our personal experiences in a sensitive and positive way with the purpose of being hopeful and preventative.

We look forward to seeing you at our event, with best wishes from Emma on behalf of York Ending Stigma.
