Fairtrade Fortnight lasts from 25 February to 10 March and the theme this year is "She Deserves a Living Wage". The campaign focuses on women cocoa farmers and the difference a living income can make in their lives.

‘DAYS FOR GIRLS YORK’ WORKSHOP – MAKING WASHABLE FEMININE HYGIENE KITS

Women working together to make washable Feminine Hygiene kits to help women and girls worldwide to have access to health, education and   dignity. Exhibition and information on local projects working to address period poverty in the UK is also part of the programme. YORK BIKE BELLES: WALKING BOOK GROUP

York Bike Belles Walking Book Group meets each month to walk and talk about books on a theme. The theme for March is Hair/Hares. It allows women to come together in a supportive, friendly and fun environment to express their opinions freely in a non judgmental setting. They learn from each other and exchange ideas through their   discussions. We generally conclude with cake! The walk lasts about 1 hour, with an optional café stop at the end. It is accessible to wheelchair users, accessible toilets available in the library, conversations while  walking on a one to one basis. Join us for a drink and evening lecture that will illuminate the world of female  craftsmanship in the 18th Century. Dr Chloe Wigston Smith, University of York, will be discussing Hannah Robertson, an interesting character who claimed to be the illegitimate granddaughter of Charles II. Robinson made, taught and wrote a book on crafts providing an escape from the strictures placed on Georgian women and offering creative and financial independence. £5.
