The Great York Walk

October 12, 2019

The Great York Walk 2019 will be the first fundraising event launched by the University of York in support of the ‘Mentally Fit York’ fund, aiming to change the future of mental health for everyone. The Walk will take place on Saturday 12 October, stretching across the historic open strays of York and taking in some of the best countryside the city has to offer. There are two routes available, you can walk the whole route which is 25miles/40km or you can walk the first section of the route which is 6.2miles/10km.  There is a fundraising target of either £250 or £150 depending on which route you choose. The Great York Walk starts at the University, crossing Monk Stray, Bootham Stray, Clifton Ings, Hob Moor, Knavesmire, Fulford Ings and Walmgate Stray before heading back to the University for a big finish! After a huge amount of interest, places for The Great York Walk are filling up fast. Sign up today to help fundraise to make a difference to the state of mental health at York and beyond, or if you have any questions email yustart@york.ac.uk

A lunch will be provided from 1-2pm for anyone who would like to stay for it after the session. Who is the event suitable for? Anyone who’d like to have a go at volunteering, meeting new people and enjoying the outdoors while doing something useful as part of One Planet Living.
