ABOUT The Eleanor Worthington Prize is awarded to students of Art Schools at University level by the Associazione Premio Eleanor Worthington, based in Urbino, Italy, to celebrate the IDPD for work in the visual arts on the theme of disability. The work on display was submitted for the 2018 Prize by British and Italian students. The theme was ‘Disability Pride, Independent Living’. Signs, Sounds and Loops – an accessible Arts & Media (AAM) workshop

Sat 7 Dec 10.00-11.00 (ages 5 to 10) 11.30-12.30 (11+) AAM normally charge £10 for one of their workshops but are offering tickets FREE as part of this week’s programme. Donations very welcome. ABOUT A fun taster workshop for young people with any degree of deafness and additional needs delivered by AAM in partnership with Lollipop. You’ll get the chance to learn some basic singing and signing and help create an original musical soundscape using instruments and inclusive digital technology. Co-led by two of AAM’s IMPs (Inclusive Music Projects) trainees this will be a fully inclusive and accessible workshop. ACCESS Ground floor meeting room. BSL Interpreter. Accessible toilets. This event is free but ‘pay as you feel’ donations are welcome to support future programmes. ABOUT A FREE cabaret showcase of ‘Disability Art’ through comedy, music, poetry and protest. Includes performances from the abnormally funny Don Biswas, musical disability rights activist Dennis Queen, and many fabulous others. The full line up will be announced shortly. The event will launch York’s 2020 Disabled Peoples Human Rights Forum in memory of our late and great disability rights advocate Chris Edmondson. The event will BSL interpreted.
