York Carers Centre

We work to protect the Human Rights of the carers we support no matter what their age or background. We work with a number of families, schools and statutory services supporting children who are carrying out significant caring responsibilities that affect the child’s health, education and social development.
Such rights are protected under The Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 32. The carers who we support that are elderly and frail, lonely and isolated, or providing long-term care to a family member, can suffer from both mental and physical health problems whilst trying to maintain their caring role. Their right to health is protected through the ICESCR Article 12.2 that promotes conditions in which people can lead a healthy life.
