Strategy

York Human Rights City Network’s strategy comprises the following elements:
Advocacy
- Some members of York Human Rights City Network Steering Group sit on the Human Rights and Equalities Board and other relevant bodies at the City of York Council (CYC). We advise on current issues, and help provide training for staff at CYC and at other relevant local agencies. Please note that we do not provide an individual casework service.
Networking
- We act as a network for organisations, individuals and businesses concerned with human rights in York. If you have an event you would like to promote, help or advice with an issue or something raised through our advocacy work, please get in touch.
Events
- We hold a range of public events, including an annual meeting to discuss the draft findings of our Annual Indicator Report . Take a look at our events section for more details and sign up to our weekly email for listings.
Research
- York Human Rights City Network helps facilitate research on human rights issues in York and beyond. Past projects include improving hate crime reporting processes, assessing the North Yorkshire Police’s rights based approach and work on embedding human rights into Equalities Impact Assessment tools. We continue our work on human rights indicators for York.
